A few weeks ago, I was sitting in our family toy room, and was overwhelmed with the amount of stuff my kids had. Jack and Lucy have only been around for 4 years, and it’s amazing how many toys they have accumulated. I’m a bit of a minimalist, so seeing all of these toys spread out on the ground gave me bit of a panic attack. I knew was time to declutter, and get rid of the toys that they never play with. As a family, we started making piles of toys. One pile was to sell, one was to keep, and the other was to donate. Surprisingly, there wasn’t much of a fight when it came to deciding. We made suggestions to which pile a toy should go in, and Jack let us know if he agreed or not. Poor Lucy didn’t get to voice her opinion (since she’s only one), but I think we did alright.
We put all the toys we were keeping away and made a donation to our local Goodwill. It now was time to start doing research on the toys we were going to keep. This is where the fun came in for us. The very first toy that we started to research was called, “Little People Zoo Talkers”. Its a toy that you can put an animal on a base and it makes the animal sound. To our surprise, it was in high demand. We originally bought it used for $20 and it came with 9 different animals. On eBay, each of the animals were selling between $5 – $20 by themselves! I couldn’t believe it! Unfortunately, this was the only toy that was worth so much money, but I didn’t care because now my eyes were open. After doing a little more research, it’s not only the Zoo Talkers that bring in good money, it’s the whole Little People brand. There are tons of different toy set’s that are Fisher Price Little People, and I’m guessing they are in demand because kids lose toys.
While looking for eBay inventory, I usually look at the toy section at Goodwill, but I never have thought to check the Fisher Price Little People completed listings. The next day I went to my local Goodwill, and guess what – I found a several Little People toys. At my goodwill, they throw all of the small toys in a bin and allow you to fill up a bag for only $1. I found 7 toys during this one trip, and made almost a $45 profit. That was only one trip and to one Goodwill.
Since there are so many different kinds of Fisher Price Little People toys, I recommend that you take some time and look at the completed listing page on eBay. This will help train your eye when looking for new eBay inventory.
