Popular Clearance Items – Online

by Tristen OBrien on January 7, 2013

I don’t always have time to stop into a Thrift Store to find my ebay inventory.  Matter of fact, sometimes I don’t feel like it.  It’s so much more convenient to sit at home on the couch and surf the web to find my items.  To stay true to my New Year’s resolution to post about a new inventory source weekly, I am going to share one of my favorites today.

It feels great when I go into a store and find a good clearance item.  Sometimes I think its the hunt for a bargain that gets me excited about ebay.  One of my first really big sales I found was a Garage Band set that was 75% off at Target.  This really is what got me going into big box stores to look for more ebay inventory.  I still shop in the Target store frequently, but I also visit their clearance online store as well!  Target’s clearance online store offers some really great deals that you can easily flip for money on ebay.  One of the best benefits of finding an item on their website is that you don’t have to worry about searching other stores to see if they have any more left.  You can just order as many as you’d like (or as many as they have).  You can visit Targets clearance store HERE, but before you do, lets take a look at some of the items that are currently available today, and compare them to what they are currently selling for on ebay:

They often have many different categories for you to choose from, but lets look in their designer brand category first -

Diane von Furstenberg Yoga Mat is selling for $14.99 on Targets clearance website (HERE).  It sold for double on ebay:

Marc Jacobs Pouch Rose Gold is selling for $20.99 on Targets clearance website (HERE).  It sold for double on ebay:

Thom Browne Women’s Blazer is selling for $38.95 on Targets clearance website (HERE).  It sold for more than double on ebay:

Thats three items in one category out of the many that are available.  You should take some time today and see what you can find!  Also, Target isn’t the only retailer who does this.  Most big box stores have an online website with a clearance section that you can benefit from.  Do you have any success stories from buying clearance online.  If so, please share your story!

Hi Tristen -

Question –
If the item from Target’s on-line clearance does not sell, can you take it to the store for a return?

Thank you.
Jennette

Originally the collection was on a special return policy. They had signs up for must be returned by 1/5/2013, however, I asked the girl at Target today and she said it would revert to their “normal” policy for what’s left now on clearance (with a receipt), however, it’s best to check with your store or online CS because she didn’t seem real confident with her answer:) I had no problem selling the Tory Burch Lunchboxes I picked up and wish I would have grabbed a few more:)

I pulled up the yoga mat on-line Tristen was talking about…..at the bottom in fine gray print it stated that the item must be returned by 1/15/2013; if worried about returns one may want to call and ask a representative directly.

Yes, Target has a 90 day return policy for their online orders: http://store-return-policies.com/target-return-policy/

Why would someone buy off of ebay rather than buy it cheaper from Target clearance? Just wondering…

Frosty,
Most people are lazy and creatures of habit. They go to ebay.com when on there couch, not Target.com.

Good point Steve. I guess that’s good news for us!

From my experience, some people are going to order things from eBay instead of Target’s website because they don’t know how to do a proper product search via the Internet, or the Target website might be out of their size. Some people want to use their PayPal accounts, too, and not a credit card. The reasons are endless. But like Jennette posted, I’d like to know if you can make returns to their physical store and for how long, if you can’t get your inventory sold online.

Target allows you to check out with PayPal. However, like LJC said, there could be any number of reasons why they choose eBay over Target’s website.
